Simchi-levi's book is fantastic in that it is the ONLY book where a novice, mid-career, or a dept head can all benefit from reading it. The way he writes the book is so straightforward, balancing applicable usage and concepts and theory. Most SC books are either too light on the applicability, or too light on the theories.
